Edinburgh is forecast to have its first snowfall of the festive season in just a few days time according to the latest predictions.
With December now having arrived, it was expected that it wouldn't be long before the city saw its first flutter, and now it seems a dusting of snow could arrive as early as next week.
Although already feeling pretty chilly, the temperatures across Edinburgh are set to drop from the middle of next week, with lows of around -1C.

Bringing crisp and frosty conditions on Thursday, December 8, the first snowfall is predicted by BBC to arrive less than 24 hours later on Friday, December 9.
Starting off the day with temperatures at around freezing, the light snow showers are forecast to last a couple of hours beginning at around 11am.

However, once the temperatures rise to around 3C, the fluttering will come to an end, with light cloud to cover the city for the rest of the day.
Although not as picturesque, Saturday, December 10, may see the snowflakes return for a few hours at a similar time, however this is thought to be in the form of sleet, which will then turn to light rain.
Following a mixed few days of cloud, sunny spells and rain, the snow is predicted to return once again a few days later on December 14, with the sleet showers forecast to start at around 7pm and continue on into the night.
