Edinburgh weather: City set for another two weeks of sun in time for school holidays

Edinburgh is set for at least another fortnight of glorious dry summer weather.

The BBC 14-day forecast predicts that there will be no rain in Edinburgh for the next 14 days, and temperatures in the capital with not fall below 16° during the daytime.

From Monday to Friday this week there will be light clouds with a gentle breeze and sprinklings of sunshine.

However, from Saturday until July 3 the BBC says the sun will be out every day at regular intervals, peaking at 20°.

The Met Office predict another heatwave is set to hit Edinburgh in July too.

Weather experts have said that Edinburgh residents are likely to experience “warm or very warm conditions at times.”

The news comes as summer is set to officially start in Scotland.

A Met Office spokesperson explained: “This year the astronomical summer began on 21 June. The astronomical calendar determines the seasons due to the 23.5 degrees of tilt of the Earth’s axis, in its orbit around the Sun.

“The meteorological summer begins on 1 June. The meteorological seasons are split into three months each. They coincide with our Gregorian calendar, making it easier for observing and forecasting to compare seasonal and monthly statistics.”
