Edinburgh weather: Capital set to be hotter than Sydney next week with highs of 21C

With summer quickly fading away, it's a welcome surprise to learn that temperatures in Edinburgh are to soar next week.

The capital, along with Glasgow and Perth, will see the highest temperatures as the mercury could rise to 21C on Tuesday.

In fact, Edinburgh will be hotter than Sydney, where the temperature will only reach a max of 19 degrees in comparison.

Sadly however, the unexpectedly warm weather is only set to stick around for a few days - so we better make the most of it.

The Met Office forecasters say the brief period of warm weather will begin on Monday and into Tuesday.

A yellow weather warning for rain has also been issued for parts of Scotland but, thankfully, it won't affect residents in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

This will come as a relief for West Lothian resident after fire crews rushed to rescue locals in Broxburn when heavy rain saw water levels rise to the same height as a small car.

A relief centre has now been set up to help those impacted by flooding, some of whom were left homeless.
