Edinburgh weather as Met Office and BBC reveal when the rain will finally stop

Edinburgh is set for showers for the rest of the week as the west of Scotland is given a yellow amber weather warning.

The polar plume that brought snow to the high grounds gifted Edinburgh and the central belt with downpours and showers- leaving locals wondering if the rain will ever end.

While Edinburgh has enjoyed some breaks in the rain, showers appear very on and off.

Now with an Atlantic stream coming in from the west and north westerly winds, the Met Office warns temperatures will drop to below average in November with a warning of potential snow in the highlands.

But until then, Edinburgh locals will have to prepare for more showers, heavy times from Thursday October 28 right through to Sunday.

The Met Office warns that heavy rain will fall in the late morning on Thursday between 9am and 10am but it clears up by midday.

Showers are expected in the early morning on Friday, turning heavier between 10am and 1pm and only drying up by 7pm.

As Halloween weekend rolls in, it is definitely a time to grab the rain coat with showers expected for the majority of Saturday and all of Sunday with temperatures just reaching 10 degrees at the highest.

However, come Monday November 1, the Met Office forecasts that the rain will finally dry up and Edinburgh locals will see cloudy skies.

The BBC Weather predict that Edinburgh will have rainfall in the morning but it will clear by 11pm, finally giving us that break.

Tuesday is also looking better with just 20 percent chance of rain, according to BBC and Met Office only reckon it is a 10 percent chance.

But a chill in the air is set to decend on Scotland as snowfall is possible on higher grounds in November.

But with forecasts of drier spells in the east, Edinburgh may enjoy a further break from the rain.

From November 10-24, the Met Office forecast: "Northwesterly winds are likely to continue to dominate during this period. It will continue to feel cool with temperatures below average for many. The unsettled weather will continue, where the west and northwest will see the wettest conditions, and the east and southeast the driest.

"Longer spells of rain will be interspersed with showers, these likely wintry over the Scottish Highlands and perhaps the hills of northern England and Wales later in the month. There will be some drier and settled spells, but these will often be short-lived. However, if they occur overnight, frost and fog is likely."
