Edinburgh weather - after wind and gales comes snow as temperatures set to plummet

Edinburgh's weather woes aren't over yet, as wintry showers are set to hit the Lothians on 11 December.

The Met Office reports that: "Scattered blustery showers, again wintry over high ground. Showers mainly in the west.

"Mostly dry with good sunny spells towards the east coast, but feeling cold in strong westerly winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C."

Yesterday saw Edinburgh buffeted by incredibly strong winds, which blew over lorries on the A1 (in one instance crushing a police car ), as well as bringing down trees on top of vehicles in Holyrood Park .

Heavy rain also caused flooding on the line between Edinburgh and Helensburgh, causing serious problems for evening commuters, many of whom ended up stuck in Bathgate - and took their frustrations out on Scotrail staff.

So the latest weather  forecast- while not great - will hopefully be a bit better than that at least.
