Edinburgh Waverley incident: Trains back on after concern for man on scaffolding

Scotrail has confirmed that trains are now running as normal after an incident involving a man on the scaffolding disrupted travel.

Yesterday evening, at around 6.10 pm, police cordoned off Waverley Station following concern for the man.

Scotrail confirmed that "disruption caused by the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway earlier today at Edinburgh has now ended."

They added: "Services are now able to run again - we're working hard to get trains running back to schedule."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.10 pm on Sunday, 23 August, 2020, police were called to a man on scaffolding on North Bridge, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services attended and at around 8.10pm the male safely alighted from the scaffolding."
