Edinburgh Waverley incident: Police flock to Waverley Mall after man tragically dies

Police were called after a man tragically passed away in Edinburgh city centre earlier this week.

Pictures show police officers cordoned-off an area of outdoor seating near the entrance to the Waverly Mall on Princes Street.

At least five officers and two police cars attended the incident shortly after 3pm on Tuesday 26 May.

A statement given to Edinburgh Live by police said the man’s death was “sudden” but the force said they did not believe there were any suspicious circumstances.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to an area near Waverley Mall in Edinburgh at around 3.05pm on Tuesday, 26 May, 2020, following the sudden death of a man.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
