Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket trains disrupted by overhead wire problems

Disruption to rail services between Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket are expected to continue until 20:30 this evening.

Network Rail first reported the problem shortly after 7pm, saying: “Overhead wire problems between Edinburgh and Haymarket are causing disruption to journeys between these stations.”

They warned that services may be cancelled, delayed or revised as a result.

They added that they anticipate that the disruption will continue until 20:30 this evening.

The Edinburgh Waverley to Haymarket line is used as an important arterial route for trains leaving Edinburgh and travelling elsewhere in Scotland.

Network Rail say on their website that travellers can keep up to date with the ongoing incident through the Journey planner on their website or through their Twitter.

Those impacted by the disruption are advised to visit the Network Rail compensation page.
