Edinburgh vet issues stark warning after puppy eats dumped disposable glove

A veterinary surgery in Edinburgh has issued a warning to pet-owners after a little puppy managed to eat a disposable glove.

At the moment many are using gloves to stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic, however they should be disposed of safely.

Edinburgh Live recently reported that shoppers in Fife had been dumping gloves in their masses outside busy supermarkets.

Fortunately Ben the Labrador puppy 's owner spotted that he'd ingested the glove and could get treatment from Braid Vets for the little lad quickly - otherwise the end of this story could have been quite different.

Braid Vets wrote on Facebook :

"PLEASE DISPOSE OF GLOVES SAFELY.

"This little lad is Ben, unfortunately he managed to get hold of a rubber glove when he was out and ate it, he was lucky as his owner saw him, and we were able to have him in and make him sick very quickly.

"If this had gone unnoticed, he would have become very poorly and more than likely would have required surgery to remove it.

"Please take care everyone! Isn’t he gorgeous?"

Ben's owner wrote on Facebook: "Thank you again to the Braid team for your quick help on sorting our little guy out he is now sleeping quite happily at home.

This happened in the woods at Newbattle completely off the public track... just completely irresponsible behaviour by people."

The glove was eaten by the puppy in woodland near Dalkeith, Midlothian.
