Edinburgh vegan restaurant closes its doors for good due to coronavirus lockdown

A popular restaurant in Edinburgh's Old Town has closed down for good due to the impact of coronavirus.

In a sudden announcement on Instagram last night, Bowls, described as a 'veggie and vegan paradise', said that yesterday (Friday 30 October) was in fact their last day of trading.

The venue at 13 Forrest Road were famed for serving up 'beautiful bowls of bountiful breakfasts  and scrumptious salads', with one Edinburgh food Instagrammer having just posted about the restaurant the day previous.

They wrote on Instagram: "It was awesome serving you guys. We loved bringing our healthy and flavoursome bowls to Edinburgh. Unfortunately the business took too much of a beating since the arrival of the c-word, and with heavy hearts we're shutting shop.

"We hope to move onwards, upwards and are optimistic about the future. But we urge you to support your favourite independent businesses here in Edinburgh.

"More will close, and it's vital to our community that you show support now. Peace out."

The post was met with many comments from sad locals who frequented the shop, with one writing: "So sad to see the shop close, I have so many great memories and met so many amazing people in there."
