Edinburgh vaults tour replies after visitor complains underground visit was too 'dark' and 'wet'

An underground Edinburgh tour has hit back at a visitor after they complained the vaults were too "dark" and "wet".

Auld Reekie Tours is one of the most popular attractions in the city, with guides taking guests down into the depths of Edinburgh's history.

The trips involve a walk through the underground vaults, which have been built on top of over the last few hundred years and are allegedly full of haunted energies.

However, one visitor was left feeling unhappy with the tour, and quickly took to TripAdvisor to share their concerns over the historic caves being too similar and dingy.

Writing their thoughts on the review site last month, they said:

"We were disappointed for a number of other reasons - the content was a little thin - once you've seen on empty vault other similar one's are much the same.

"The vaults are also very wet, very dark and the floor very uneven. Overall, it was okay but not greatly inspiring. Hence a middling rating."

After reading the review, the tour company was quick to respond to the complaints, and wrote:

"Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and thank you for the valuable feedback.

"We’re sorry that the experience did not meet your expectations. We will use this feedback to see if we can improve the accessibility and make it clearer to customers before booking that our vaults are very much as they were built."
