Edinburgh Tyre Extinguisher group target SUVs overnight at popular city park

Controversial environmental campaign group, Tyre Extinguishers, took to the streets of Edinburgh last night to continue their rampage on SUV’s.

The group say that they extinguished the tyres of five SUVs in the Leith community of the capital.

They shared an image of a blue Range Rover that was targeted in Leith Links last night and shared a statement saying that they will not rest as the Climate Emergency is not taking a break.

During this week the group have hit 600 SUVs in nine different countries whilst last night they also targeted 10 SUVs in the Hampstead community of London.

In a statement released on their website, they said: “No matter what’s happening in the world – monarchy-related or otherwise – Tyre Extinguishers don’t rest. The climate emergency isn’t taking a break, so neither will we.

“SUVs continue to fill our lungs with poison, wreck the climate and kill pedestrians and other road users. There’s no time to waste.

“Two new Tyre Extinguishers groups have just formed and performed their first small actions, gathering their confidence to take bigger actions.

“SUVs were hit over the last few nights in:

Hampstead, London, UK (10 SUVs hit)

Leith Links, Edinburgh, UK (5 SUVs hit)

“This tops off a big week of action for us, with our Global Night of Action hitting 600 SUVs in nine countries, gathering global media coverage.

“Onwards, to the funeral of SUVs!

“The Tyre Extinguishers”

Fellow environmental group Extinction Rebellion had called off a large demonstration that was set to take place in London two days ago as a mark of respect for the Queen.

However Tyre Extinguishers are arguing that the climate emergency is not waiting for any news event and therefore feel justified to continue their divisive actions.
