Edinburgh tram extension: Almost 30,000 letters to be sent to locals as next phase of project nears

Almost 30,000 letters will be sent out to residents and businesses in the coming week as the next phase of the Edinburgh tram extension project approaches.

Works will start on Lindsay Road eastbound on Saturday, 7 March before the project arrives on Ocean Drive, just outside the Ocean Terminal, a week later. Road closures will be in-place on both routes.

Edinburgh Live reported how Lothian Buses have also been warning of disruption to services when works get underway on Leith Walk towards the end of March. Services affected include the 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 22, 25 and 49 along with night buses.

The Trams to Newhaven team confirmed on Wednesday morning that they'll be writing to thousands of people in the Leith area as the next phase grows nearer.

They tweeted: "We are writing to over 29k residents and businesses over the next seven days with details of next phases of work on Lindsay Road, Ocean Drive and Leith Walk #TramstoNewhaven."

Edinburgh Live previously told how the road closure on Constitution Street, which was introduced on 16 November, was having a "big impact" on traders in the area.

The works on Ocean Drive are scheduled to run until autumn of this year, however the project is expected to continue on Lindsay Road until next summer.
