Edinburgh trains suffer delays after person tragically hit on Perth line

Edinburgh commuters are being told to expect delays after a person was sadly hit near Newburgh today at around 3.46pm.

Scotrail said: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Ladybank and Perth. The line through the area is currently closed while the emergency services attend."

Currently trains between Edinburgh and Perth and Edinburgh and Inverness are subject to delays while emergency services deal with the incident.

A spokesperson for The British Transport Police confirmed to Edinburgh Live that the incident occurred near Newburgh in Fife.

They said: "We were called to a casualty on the tracks at around 3.46pm and we are still responding alongside paramedics."
