Edinburgh trains cancelled and replaced by buses amid signalling fault

SCOTRAIL trains at Edinburgh Waverley are facing delays, with some services being replaced with buses, due to a fault with the signalling system.

The transport provider confirmed that some services travelling from Waverley will be revised as a result of a fault between the station and Haymarket, which was detected at around 2pm on Sunday.

Network Rail also confirmed that some services will be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised, along with some trains being cancelled.

It is understood that Network Rail engineers are en route to fix the fault and that disruption at the station and surrounding train lines is expected until 3:30pm.

ScotRail confirmed that a replacement bus service is in place at Haymarket, Edinburgh Park, Linlithgow and Bathgate.

A spokesperson said in a statement: “Due to a fault with the signalling system between Haymarket and Edinburgh some services are revised.

“Network Rail are on route to fix the fault fix. Please use our app during this time for journey info.”
