Edinburgh train tragedy as casualty hit by Scotrail service on line to Glasgow

A person has tragically lost their life after being struck by a train on the Edinburgh to Glasgow rail line.

Emergency services raced to the scene between Polmont and Croy at around 12:44pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious

As a result of the incident services that normally travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh that call at Falkirk High will now run via Falkirk Grahamston instead.

In a short statement, Scotrail said: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Croy and Polmont. The emergency services are on their way, I'll keep you updated."

A spokeswoman for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line in Falkirk at 12:44pm following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
