A new brain unit at the Sick Kids' hospital will not be opened in 2013 as planned, reports the Evening News. No new date has been fixed for its completion.

A new centre for dementia sufferers will be officially opened on the site of the old Eastern General hospital this morning. The project has secured council funding for the next five years, and will offer around 108 people day care services Monday-Saturday. It will also be used an alternative to hospital admission.
Councillor Norman Work, Vice Convener of the Health, Social Care and Housing Committee, said: "It is fantastic to see this new centre spring to life and I would like to say congratulations to everyone who has had a part to play in the development of this new building.
"Not only will it provide great facilities and services for service users, it will also be a lifeline for their families too. We are looking forward to working with our partners in providing a high quality service."
