Edinburgh to Tenerife flight declares mid-air emergency after passenger takes unwell on board

A Jet2 flight from Edinburgh has declared a mid-air emergency.

The plane travelling to Tenerife was forced to divert to Belfast Airport at around 10am this morning due to a passenger requiring medical attention.

The condition of the passenger is unknown.

The Boeing 737 is believed to have departed Edinburgh Airport at 9.10am.

It was flying over Northern Ireland at the time the alarm was raised and reportedly looped around and landed at Belfast.

It was due to arrive in Tenerife at 2pm.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: “Flight LS727 from Edinburgh to Tenerife has diverted to Belfast International, due to a customer requiring medical attention”.
