Edinburgh to see temperatures plummet this week - here's when the big chill will hit

After a somewhat mild start to the week, the mercury in Edinburgh is set to plummet in the days ahead.

According to the Met Office, the next seven days will get colder and colder, approaching freezing temperatures by the weekend.

The weather service states that on Wednesday, Edinburgh will see "another cloudy day with some light rain or drizzle, and misty over high ground".

At around midnight, these clouds will turn to light rain, though things will dry up by Thursday morning.

For the remainder of Thursday, temperatures will hover just below 10 degrees Celsius and there will be occasional patches of sunshine.

On Friday, temperatures in the city will begin to dip, falling to around 6C for much of the day.

Overnight, things will turn even colder, and the mercury will remain between 0C and 5C for the rest of the weekend and the beginning of next week.

Fortunately, Edinburgh looks set for a mostly dry week and weekend ahead.
