Edinburgh to see highs of 17C over weekend as clocks spring forward for British Summer Time

The capital has been fortunate enough to have some gorgeous weather over the last few weeks with temperatures hitting almost 20C.

If this is an early indication of what's to come this summer, then it seems that we are in for a real treat.

Despite weather forecasters predicting hail and sleet next week - yes really - we have better things happening this weekend when it comes to temperatures.

Both the BBC and Met Office have said that the city will see temperatures soar to 15C today followed by 17C tomorrow.

The sun is set to stay out today (March 26) until 7pm whilst tomorrow should see the sun shine between 7am and 7pm.

Many people will be celebrating Mother's Day tomorrow, so if you want to head out for some lunch, dinner - or even a walk in the park, you'll be glad to know it will be a perfect day for it as temperatures peak between 1pm and 5pm.

So what does the weather look like for the week ahead?

Edinburgh's five day weather forecast according to the Met Office

Today:

A dry sunny day with light and variable winds. Some patchy cloud may bubble up in the afternoon, most likely in the east across the Borders. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

A dry evening and night. Clear skies across most of the area. Some mist, low cloud and haar may affect the Borders coast overnight. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Sunday:

Dry and sunny with light winds with any inland mist or fog soon clearing, but haar may linger along the east coast. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

A cloudier few days. Mostly dry on Monday and Tuesday. Turning colder with outbreaks of rain spreading south on Wednesday.
