Edinburgh to see four new road closures on Monday as works get underway across the city

Edinburgh will experience multiple road closures on Monday (March 29), as a number of essential works get underway.

There are already a host of ongoing roadworks across the capital, however the coming days will see four new road closures as well as a number of other temporary lights.

Starting on Monday, Iona Street will be shut off to traffic for one week as the Trams to Newhaven project carries out site investigation works in the area.

St Leonard's Street will also see closures but just for one day, as some resurfacing works are carried out. However, these are subject to weather conditions.

In addition, Niddrie Marischal Road will be closed from Monday for an estimated three weeks, to also carry out some resurfacing plans.

Finally, Portobello Road will be shut off for three days for cable installation.

As well as the new road closures, some temporary traffic lights will now be in place on Stanlet Road, Cluny Gardens and Inverleith Place.

Any drivers planning on taking these routes have been advised to allow for extra time on their journey.
