Edinburgh to host The Muppet Christmas Carol with live orchestra this winter

The Muppet Christmas Carol is set to arrive in Edinburgh this Christmas accompanied by none other than a live orchestra.

The classic Christmas film is making a tour around the UK, and will stop off in Edinburgh as well as Glasgow to spread some festive cheer.

Featuring Kermit the frog and Miss Piggy, the movie will be screened at the Usher Hall, where the orchestra will sit in the pit below the stage to play the original score composed by Miles Goodman.

However, tickets for the production are expected to sell out fast , with the tour only performing one Edinburgh date on December 2 at 7.30pm.

Speaking about the tour, organisers said: “The Muppets perform the classic Charles Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge.

“The film also features Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, Gonzo as the narrator Charles Dickens, Fozzie Bear as Fozziwig, and Robin the Frog as Tiny Tim.

“Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases – past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.”
