Edinburgh to host lockdown internet sensation Andrew Cotter and his Labradors

Scottish broadcaster, Andrew Cotter, will visit Edinburgh next month to promote and share his new book, Dog Days: A Year with Olive and Mabel.

Cotter, one of the most well-known voices of sports broadcasting, shared an amusing hobby with the world that he created with his two dogs during the Covid-19 pandemic and as a result, received mainstream media attention and followers from across the world.

Starting his career with a local radio station in Scotland, Cotter soon made the jump to the BBC and has made a name for himself ever since, appearing on Sky, BT Sport, ESPN and many more.

Cotter sees his two Labradors as his most trusted and loyal companions, which made his lockdown experience more enjoyable and bearable. He would share clips on social media of himself narrating for his dogs and sharing their day-to-day mischievous actions.

As a result of receiving 90 million views across Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, Cotter decided to write a book about the life and friendship bond he has with his pets, 'Olive, Mabel and Me', which sold 125,000 copies worldwide and became a UK bestseller.

On November 1, Cotter will be in Edinburgh, alongside Olive and Mabel, to present his second book and tales of his journey with locals at Greenside Church. He is also doing a similar event in St Andrews on November 2.

The book is due to be published today, October 21, and acts as a sequel to his previous novel, continuing to explore the love a man can share with his dogs.

Cotter's witty and warm sense of humour throughout the pandemic and slow release into normality has seen him make appearances on BBC Breakfast, Virgin Radio and Good Morning America.

In his latest book, he explores the curious things we do as humans as we make our way through life and reflects on how precious time really is, especially the time we have with our dogs.

Speaking on the publication of his second book, Cotter said: "It was lovely to see the reaction to my first book, and although Olive and Mabel have continued to offer very little practical help with the writing, they have helped as some sort of inspiration and I’m so glad that they have been by my side throughout this past year – quite often snoring. But it has been an extraordinary time for everyone and I hope that Dog Days might strike a chord with people, whether they are dog-lovers or not."
