Edinburgh teenagers scale multi-storey grain warehouse during demolition work

Brazen Edinburgh teenagers have taken to social media to brag about their urban exploring exploits after scaling a former grain warehouse undergoing demolition.

A video posted on TikTok shows at least two youngsters climbing the category B listed 1930s building as earth moving equipment below continues with work to raze it to the ground.

In the short, 20-second clip, the youths can be seen walking through the dilapidated corridors of the structure at Leith Docks.

The teenagers climb to the very top of the towering concrete landmark before looking out over the port.

Another hair-raising angle shows massive machinery moving around below as workers prepare the area for the final phase of the demolition project.

It comes just days after youths on a similar escapade filmed themselves bragging on the top of the Capital's historic City Chambers building.

That video, which was also shared on TikTok, shows a teenager giving a hand signal at a dizzying height as he stands at the edge of the roof, whilst his friend is seen standing casually posing at the opposite end.

The grain warehouse is being demolished as part of a wider project to renovate the port area.

The creation of a Leith Renewables Hub was announced in May this year. It will transform the 175 acre site at the Port of Leith, supporting Scottish Government energy transition plans and the achievement of net zero carbon emissions targets.

Aiming to support around 3,000 jobs, the £40 million private investment will see the creation of a "bespoke" marine berth built to accommodate the world's largest offshore wind installation vessels.
