Edinburgh teenager 'shaken' after assault as police release images of man

By James Delaney

An Edinburgh teenager was left terrified following a vile attack in the early hours of the morning on a busy Capital street.

Police Scotland has released images of a man they want to trace in connection with the assault of the 18-year-old woman in October 2021 after studying CCTV footage in the Dalry area of the city.

The victim, who was walking in the direction of Angle Park Terrace at around 2am on Sunday, October 17, was uninjured in the incident but was badly shaken as a result.

Officers say they are now hoping to identify the man captured by security cameras as part of their ongoing investigation.

He is described as being white, in his early 20s, around 6ft tall, with a slim build and short light-coloured hair, according to police.

At the time of the incident he was said to be wearing a dark blue jumper with writing on the left breast, a white t-shirt and dark-coloured trousers.

Detective Constable Stephanie Dickie said: “We are asking for anyone who recognises the man in the image, or for the man himself, to please come forward as it could prove vital to our enquiries."

DC Dickie added: “Anyone with any information on the incident should call police on 101, quoting incident 0819 of 17 October 2021. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
