A teenager has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an alleged attack that left two men seriously injured in hospital.
Officers cordoned off Granton Square for several hours following the incident in the early hours of Saturday, July 3, while traffic was diverted away from the area.
Two men, aged 19 and 21, were rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as a result of the alleged assault, leaving both requiring medical treatment.
Police launched an appeal for witnesses shortly after the incident, but have now charged a 17-year-old with attempted murder.
The youth is now due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, July 7.
Detective Sergeant Mark McGraw of CID in Edinburgh assured locals the alleged attack was “isolated,” adding officers are continuing with their investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
He said:“I want to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and at no point were they at risk.”
DS McGraw added: “Enquiries are continuing and I would like to thank the public for the assistance already provided.
