An Edinburgh teen who fractured both legs after crashing a motorbike he was driving without a license has spent the first few weeks in young offenders in a wheelchair.
Findlay Henderson was pursued by cops who spotted him speeding and driving erratically on a motorbike in Edinburgh.
Officers followed the 18-year-old as he continuously weaved in and out of traffic alongside another motorcycle ridden by a friend.
But the pals ended up in a crumpled heap on the road after colliding with one another, reports the Record.
Henderson found himself in a wheelchair in Polmont Young Offenders Institution for a number of weeks after being remanded in custody.
He appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday and admitted driving dangerously on Milton Road West on November 14. Henderson also pled guilty to driving while uninsured and failing to display ‘L’ plates as a provisional licence holder.
Mr Long said one motorist had to take evasive action to prevent a collision.
The prosecutor said the motorbikes were “weaving in and out of traffic”, their engines revving.
The bikes then collided with each other in the street and a number of vehicles took evasive action to avoid hitting them, he added.
The court heard Henderson complained to police officers arriving at the accident scene of pain in his legs and he was bleeding from a facial injury.
Henderson was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Defence agent Alistair Murphy said his client had already “suffered” for his actions.
Mr Murphy said Henderson sustained two fractured legs and “went to Polmont and spent his first few weeks there in a wheelchair”.
The solicitor said Henderson also lost quite a lot of skin from his face” in the crash.
Sheriff Norman McFadyen deferred sentence on Henderson, of the city’s Ravelston area, until later this month for reports.
