Edinburgh stabbing: second teenager charged following attempted murder outside Aldi

Police Scotland have arrested and charged a second 16-year-old boy in connection with a knife attack on a teenager outside an Aldi in Edinburgh.

At around 5.10pm on Sunday 14 April police and emergency services were called to reports of a disturbance on Gilmerton Road, where a 16-year-old boy was found with serious injuries. He currently remains in hospital.

The 16-year-old has also been charged in connection with possession of a knife and is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow (Saturday 20 April).

Detective Sergeant Mark Lumsden from Gayfield CID said: “We understand the concern this incident brought to the local community and I would like to thank them and the wider public for their assistance whilst our inquiries were ongoing.

“We are satisfied that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and will continue to provide the victim and his family with the necessary support as he continues the recovery from his injuries.”
