Edinburgh St James Quarter to be overrun by zombies for epic Nerf blaster battle

Brave Edinburgh warriors will have the opportunity to fight off hordes of the undead under the streets of the Capital as part of a special Halloween event next month.

Foam Dart Thunder’s ‘Terminal Infection 7’ promises an immersive zombie blasting experience deep in the bowels of the St James Quarter.

Armed with Nerf guns, participants will descend into the shopping centre’s underground car park via ‘animated’ lifts simulating an emergency outbreak.

There, they must fight to make it out alive while avoiding the clutches of the undead army who have accessed Edinburgh through a long forgotten tunnel under the new complex.

Foam Dart Thunder previously ran the Terminal Infection events at the Ocean Terminal shopping centre in Leith, but the coronavirus pandemic forced a venue switch for their comeback.

However, creator David Nimmo said this year’s outing will be “bigger and better than ever,” with a specialist sound and lighting engineer set to create a spooky atmosphere.

He added: “The pandemic ended our hopes of running a seventh straight event at Ocean Terminal, but we are delighted to be able to bring this to the St James Quarter.

“This is the big comeback, bigger and better, we want to make it fun, family friendly and as immersive as possible.

“Covid has had a massive effect on everyone and we are hoping this can give people of all ages a chance to blow off some steam for a couple of hours in a place where they might not otherwise get to run around.”

The event is open to youngsters over the age of eight, with two sessions on the day.

The Dawn Patrol begins from 6pm, while the Midnight Shift takes place from 9-11pm on Saturday, October 30.

Participants must provide their own Nerf blasters and wear eye protection at all times, but darts will be provided.

Tickets are available here, priced at £25.
