The glass roof of Edinburgh’s new £1billion shopping centre has cracked just days after it opened its doors to the public.
Thousands of shoppers have already visited the new St James Quarter development since the long-term project held its phase one opening last Thursday.
The opulent new destination features a range of high end and high street brands and has been designed to flood the interior with light from a large glass roof hanging over the entire centre.
However shoppers spotted one of the panels had shattered less than a week after welcoming visitors for the first time while exploring on Wednesday.

Bosses at the centre promised a new 'retail led, lifestyle district which provides 'an inspiring, attractive, and vibrant city centre destination for locals and visitors to shop, eat and play' ahead of the five-year development's grand opening.
Over 40 retailers welcomed the public through their doors from last week, with dozens of Lego fans queuing up from 3am to get their hands on exclusive sets from the brand's store.
Japanese eatery Harajuku Kitchen became the latest outlet to announce it would be opening inside the centre, with the beloved sushi restaurant set to bring its brand of street food to the centre in phase two.
