Edinburgh squaddie 'abducted' during Tinder date sparking massive security scare

An Edinburgh squaddie was 'abducted' during a Tinder date at the weekend, sparking a huge security scare.

The serviceman, from Dreghorn Barracks in Colinton, was allegedly held hostage in a terrifying ordeal after the blind date went wrong.

An army spokesperson confirmed to Edinburgh Live that an 18-year-old was taken to hospital.

A source close to Dreghorn Barracks said fellow servicemen and women were told of the attack during a meeting at the army base on Monday.

It is understood that the teenager left the digs on Saturday night after 'arranging a Tinder date' with a woman at a property in Edinburgh.

When he arrived at the address, another man allegedly assaulted him and refused to let him leave the premises.

Edinburgh Live understands the incident triggered emergency protocol with top brass informed.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence confirmed to Edinburgh Live that the teenager was taken to hospital after an incident at an Edinburgh property and that police are investigating.

The spokesperson added: "We can confirm that there was an incident involving a serviceman and a civilian in the early hours of Sunday morning.
