Edinburgh son who hit his mum and dad after money row is let off by judge

A man who assaulted his own parents in a row over money has been admonished after staying out of trouble.

Daniel Crombie struck his mother Melanie to the side of the body during the argument over cash at his parent’s home in Leith, Edinburgh.

Crombie, 22, also punched dad Robert to the head and spat at his sibling Lewis during his violent outburst in February last year.

The lout admitted the assaults when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month and he returned to the dock for sentencing on Friday.

Sheriff John Mundy was told Crombie, of the capital’s Grove Street, had stayed out of trouble since the incident almost 12 months ago and decided to hand out an admonishment.

Previously fiscal depute Miriam Clark said Crombie arrived at his parent’s home at around 5.30pm on February 19 last year.

The fiscal said Crombie asked his mother for cash but after being refused he lashed out.

Dad Robert stepped in to try and calm his son but he was also struck on the head by Crombie.

Crombie then spat at brother Lewis, who was also trying to intervene, by spitting at his head.

Police were called in and Crombie was arrested and charged.
