Edinburgh son accused of murdering his own mother is cremated in Spain with father in attendance

A man who killed himself on the run after being accused of murdering his Edinburgh mother was cremated in Spain with only his immediate family present.

The Daily Record reports Sean Flynn, 37, was alleged to have killed Louise Tiffney, at their Edinburgh home 19 years ago before dumping her body in woods near an East Lothian estate.

Louise’s remains were found by a member of the public in April 2017.

But when Flynn, who was living in Berlin, Germany, failed to appear for court last month, a warrant for his arrest was issued.

It then emerged that his body had been found in Peniscola, Valencia, just 48 hours after the warrant was issued on October 19.

It’s understood his funeral – a basic cremation – took place about two weeks ago in the area.

A source said: “His funeral was held in Spain. His dad was present but we’re not sure about anyone else. We’re told it was a very simple service. We don’t know who was the woman he was seen with in the days before his death.

“She left a couple of days before he killed himself. He was staying in an Airbnb and passing himself off as a tourist.

“It’s the families you have to feel for. Both Louise’s and Sean’s because they’re the ones left with no answers and grieving two people. It’s all very tragic.”
