Edinburgh snow: Weather warnings issued for Wednesday and Thursday with further snowfall forecast

Edinburgh is set to see further snowfall on Wendesday and Thursday, with Met Office weather warnings in place from 6pm tonight.

Forecasters reckon we could see prolonged winter showers with the yellow alert for snow and ice lasting until 2pm on Thursday. Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife are set to be hit, along with large parts of eastern and northern Scotland.

According to the warning parts of the A1, and North Berwick and Dunbar, may miss out on the worst of the weather – however the rest of us in the Lothians won't be quite so lucky, or unlucky depending on how much you enjoy the snow.

The Met Office say "ice is likely to form across parts of Scotland, north Wales and north England leading to some travel disruption along with snow for some parts".

They add people should expect icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, with roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times on the cards.

This latest warning comes after the city was hit with snow showers overnight on Monday into Tuesday, with difficult conditions remaining in place in large parts of the capital.

In the wake of the snowfall earlier this week we at Edinburgh Live asked our readers to share their winter snaps, and boy did they deliver. Check out some of our favourite snow pictures right here.
