Drivers in Edinburgh have been urged to take care when travelling this weekend after BBC Weather issued a weather warning for the capital.
A yellow weather warning for both snow and ice has been issued for Edinburgh on Friday morning (7 January 2022) with BBC Weather urging caution that 'frequent sleet and snow showers may lead to some difficult driving conditions and disruption to travel.'

Alongside issues for those travelling, some areas may be hit with power outages due to 'isolated lightning strikes' on Friday.
The two warnings begin at midnight on Friday and end at 10am - however temperates will peak at 3C in the afternoon and by later in the day it will be 'drier to the east with some brighter spells.'

Despite the end of the weather warning by the afternoon, Saturday 8 is set to see rain pour across Scotland - and unfortunately it'll be no different in Edinburgh.
The forecasters have also warned Edinburgh locals to expect the following on Friday morning:
- Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
- Some brief power outages are possible with a risk of isolated lightning strikes
