Edinburgh set for three day long sun blast as temperatures rise for Easter weekend

Residents in the capital can expect sunny spells over Easter weekend, as we say goodbye to the icy grip of winter.

According to the BBC, the sun will begin to break out on April 7 after a few days of rain before that. Temperatures are expected to reach 12C by the early afternoon, though the sun will still be hiding behind some clouds.

As we move into Saturday, the day begins with bright skies while temperatures remain lower at around 5C. By lunchtime, they’re expected to reach 12C again - with the sun continuing to shine.

This will continue into Sunday, and straight through into Monday. All good things come to an end though, and April 11 (Tuesday) will bring rainy patches with temperatures dropping back down to around 8C.

Regardless, three days of blistering sun will do us just fine after what seemed like a never ending winter. The Met Office backed up these forecasts, stating: “Drier and brighter interludes are possible.

“The latter part of the period looks likely to become more settled, albeit with some wetter interludes, these most likely in the south and west. Temperatures remain close to average, feeling pleasant in any sunshine.”

Weather.com, who provide forecasts for Google, predict temperatures to rise up to 14C over the Easter weekend. They’ve suggested rainy patches on April 7, with a dry weekend and cloudy periods.
