Edinburgh ScotRail journeys cancelled with majority of services off on Sunday

The vast majority of Edinburgh ScotRail services due to run on Sunday have been cancelled.

Passengers are being made aware of some major disruption to railway travel, with only very limited journeys expected to run.

This is due to RMT strike action amid an ongoing pay dispute. The union wants pay justice and equality for workers, and began six weeks of action on May 2.

ScotRail confirmed news of the cancellations on their social media, posting: "We're advising customers that most ScotRail services will be cancelled Sunday, 23 May because of strike action by the RMT during the Covid-19 pandemic over calls for a 50 per cent increase in overtime payments for no additional hours worked."

The only Edinburgh services running on the day are on the line to and from Helensburgh – with no trains running later than 7pm.

Limited bus services will be put on for key workers going to Queen Margaret Hospital Dunfermline and Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
