A coronavirus case has been confirmed at Clermiston Primary School in Edinburgh.
All close contacts are being told to self-isolate and take a Covid-19 test, while "enhanced cleaning and infection control measures" are in place at the school.
Head teacher Gordon McIntyre confirmed the news in a statement issued on Thursday (March 18).
He says an update will be emailed to all parents as soon as the track and trace process has been completed. Children who remain well and have not been contacted should continue attending the school.
The statement read: "We are aware of a person in the school setting who has tested positive for COVID-19. We understand that this is a worrying time but would like to reassure you that we are working closely with NHS Lothian Health Protection Team and following all national guidance.
"Persons are currently being contacted because they may have been in close and sustained contact with the case and will need to self-isolate and asked to have a test for Covid-19. They will be given appropriate guidance and advice.
"An update via email will be sent to you as soon as the tracking and tracing process is complete.
"If you have not been contacted and your child remains well, you should continue to follow the school’s existing arrangements for your child."
Mr McIntyre adds that the school remains safe and anyone who has concerns, or wishes to book a test because their child has developed symptoms, should visit the NHS Inform website.
