Edinburgh 'Santa Parade' will take place next month with Reindeer, band and food

Edinburgh is already starting to feel festive, with the Christmas markets and other attractions slowly taking shape.

With the countdown to the big day now on, it has been reported that Santa himself will be making an appearance in Stockbridge in a few weeks time.

The 'Santa Parade' has been confirmed by locals as taking place on December 4, with Old Saint Nic to head through the area on his sleigh.

As well as being pulled by Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitze,n the sleigh will be accompanied by the Stockbridge Pipe Band, with the group set to play a selection of festive carols.

In addition, the vintage Tunnock van will also be following Santa, with an escort of elves and the Glencorse Pipeband making the visit quite the occasion.

However, if you happen to miss the parade, hundreds more Santas and elves will once again be descending on Inverleith Park the following day (December 5) for a huge park run.

Well over one thousand runners from all over the country are expected to take part, with each set to be dressed in their best North Pole attire.

The event will allow participants to choose either a 5k or 10k run to complete, with the race also running as a competition.

Finally, the Sunday will be finished off with a "Santa Toddle", for really young ones to have a wonder at around 1.30pm and walk around the course with Santa.
