Edinburgh's weather for the week ahead

As we move into spring we can look forward to some milder weather later in the week but not before one or two more chilly days first.

Monday morning will dawn crisp with temperatures in Edinburgh around 0 so there could be a little frost on the ground as you head to work.

A fine bright morning will give way to cloud later in the day as a band of rain makes its way in from the West.

That will set the tone for Tuesday as more rain sweeps across from the West.

That weather front will push past us with a break in the weather on Wednesday before the rain makes a return to the west of Scotland later on, possibly making its way as far east as Edinburgh with a few showers.

Wednesday will see colder air coming down across the northern half of the UK with a few wintry showers in northern Scotland with temperatures hovering around 9 degrees here.

Thursday might see some sunny spells as an area of high pressure moves in from the west which should see better weather for the end of the week.

On Friday that high pressure area stays with us, definitely the best of the week, with sunshine and clear skies as we move into the weekend.
