Edinburgh's top-rated Indian restaurants according to Food Awards Scotland

This year's Food Awards Scotland, which 'celebrates the best in the food industry; from the excellent restaurants, chefs and servers, to the specialists and suppliers', has unveiled its finalists for this 2022.

As we've reported earlier in the week, several Edinburgh food and drink spots have been nominated this time round and winners will be crowned during a black-tie ceremony taking place at Glasgow's Marriott Hotel on September 19.

And one of the most highly-anticipated categories is the Best Indian Restaurant award, which sees 10 eateries from across the country competing for the top prize.

Two Indian establishments from Edinburgh have found their way on to the shortlist, meaning they could soon be crowned Scotland's best, next month.

Capital favourite Dishoom is one of the 10 nominees, perhaps unsurprisingly given its popularity. The legendary Indian restaurant is famous in the capital city for its morning Bacon Naan Rolls, with their delicious food described as ‘Bombay comfort food’, enjoyed by locals since the venue opened on St Andrew Square in 2016.

And the second capital eatery to make the top 10 is Chaskaa Indian Restaurant, much-loved and known for 'bringing the authentic taste of food from the streets of India' on Leven Street, near the King's Theatre. It continues to get a series of rave reviews with many hailing it as the 'best' in Edinburgh.

Organisers of the awards say: "Whether it is the places that you have had your lunch and dinner hundreds of times or new establishments that have just entered the industry, the Food Awards Scotland 2022 are an exclusive celebration of the masters that enhance the flavours in Scotland.

"The event will welcome top professionals of the country’s food sector that provide delicious dishes, the freshest of products and rich menus.

"It will also showcase food suppliers, servers and manufacturers that take our taste buds around the world while in the comfort of Scotland.

"The awards promise to be a memorable event in the food industry’s calendar, with a wide range of accolades ready to be presented to the most deserving professionals and establishments, including Restaurant of the Year, Best Italian Establishment, Bakery of the Year, Best World Cuisine and many more."

A spokesperson for The Food Awards Scotland said: “Scotland offers a wide range of places that serve world cuisines. The finalists were voted for by the public for providing authentic recipes and unique dishes to their diners, creating memorable experiences for both residents and visitors.

“Undoubtedly, there are some amazing specialists around the country, who know how to offer great service, delicious food and meet the expectations of their diners. These are the professionals that we aim to reward at The Food Awards Scotland 2022.

“We would like to wish all the finalists the best of luck and we can’t wait to welcome all our guests and celebrate the winners with them.”
