Edinburgh's Street Party road closures: 10 city centre routes are shutting on Hogmanay

A number of road closures will be in place in Edinburgh's city centre on Hogmanay as the massive Street Party event arrives in town.

10 busy routes will close in total, with some closed from 6pm this evening and others shutting at 10pm. They'll all remain off-limits until 10am on New Year's Day.

According to the City of Edinburgh Council Princes Street will shut between South Charlotte Street and the Mound, and between the Mound and South St David Street from 6pm. Castle Street will also close between Princes Street and Rose Street while Frederick Street will be off-limits between Princes Street and George Street. Also closing at 6pm is Waverley Bridge between Market Street and the station's south ramp.

From 10pm Princes Street will close between South St David Street and North Bridge while South St David Street will completely shut. Also affected by closures are Waverley Bridge, Market Street, Meuse Lane, South St Andrew Street, Lawnmarket/ High Street at Parliament Square and Rose Street North and South Lane.

Mound Place, which has been closed since Saturday, will also remain shut until 12pm on Wednesday.

King's Stables Road, which also shut earlier this month, will remain closed between Lothian Road and the NCP car park entrance until 8pm on 6 January.

Edinburgh Live reported that more than 30 Lothian Buses services have been disrupted due to the city's Hogmanay events. You can find out more about this by clicking here.
