Edinburgh's star attraction

As the managers, promoter and venue manager, respectively, of the most successful act on the Edinburgh Fringe this year we find it hard to recognise the portrait of Johnny Vegas painted by your arts correspondent (Festival's buzz is back as 1m flock to shows, August 20).

Johnny had sold out by the second day of the festival for 25 nights at the Gilded Balloon. In Johnny's own words he's "been working like a pit pony", with additional sell-out shows all over the Festival. Far from being, as reported, "rarely sober", he's barely had time for a drink! Johnny didn't "crash and burn at the Celebrity Barndance", as you report, but rather stage-dived into an adoring crowd - whilst the Guardian's own reviewer, Brian Logan, could be seen "stripping the willow" and "docy-doh-ing" in full support. Fiachra Gibbons should get out more - the drinks are on us.

• I can't remember ever seeing so many stars adorning the Reviews pages over so many successive days. The Edinburgh Festival must be a delight to be able to visit. I hope the Guardian will publish the countrywide itinerary of the four- and five-star events, with an emphasis on affordable, accessible venues.
