Johnny had sold out by the second day of the festival for 25 nights at the Gilded Balloon. In Johnny's own words he's "been working like a pit pony", with additional sell-out shows all over the Festival. Far from being, as reported, "rarely sober", he's barely had time for a drink! Johnny didn't "crash and burn at the Celebrity Barndance", as you report, but rather stage-dived into an adoring crowd - whilst the Guardian's own reviewer, Brian Logan, could be seen "stripping the willow" and "docy-doh-ing" in full support. Fiachra Gibbons should get out more - the drinks are on us.

I can't remember ever seeing so many stars adorning the Reviews pages over so many successive days. The Edinburgh Festival must be a delight to be able to visit. I hope the Guardian will publish the countrywide itinerary of the four- and five-star events, with an emphasis on affordable, accessible venues.
