Police taped off part of the Royal Mile this morning after a three-vehicle smash that resulted in a driver being rushed to Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary.
The city centre area was closed down for almost two hours after police were called to the crash at around 10.55am on Wednesday 14 April.
The accident occurred near a souvenir shop in Canongate and Lothian had to divert buses away from the smash. The Royal Mile was able to re-open again at 12.30 pm.
A picture taken at the scene shows officers standing next to a badly damaged black vehicle that appears to have collided with a building. Luckily it is understood that no one was seriously injured in the crash.
