Edinburgh's Princes Street closed to traffic for three nights with more than 30 buses diverted

A road closure on Edinburgh's Princes Street will see more than 30 bus services diverted for three nights.

A stretch of road will be shut to traffic from 8pm to 5am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night. This is so tram track maintenance can be carried out.

Council-run social media account Edinburgh Travel News confirmed earlier on Monday the closure would be in place westbound at the Waverley steps.

Lothian Buses have revealed full details of their diversions, with more than 30 different services affected by the road closure.

They say services 1, 4, 19, 22, 25, 34, N11, N16 and N26 will travel via York Place and St Andrew Square rather than going up London Road/ Elm Row to Princes Street westbound.

Between North Bridge and Princes Street services 3, 29, 30, 31, 33, 37, N3, N30, N37 and N31/44 will be diverted via Leith Street, York Place and St Andrew Square westbound.

And services N22 and N25 will operate a one-way loop via Leith Street, York Place and St Andrew Square to Princes Street.

Lothian Country services 43, X18, X27. X28 and N28 are also diverted along with East Coast Buses services 104, 113, 124 and X7.

Full details of bus diversions, and up to the minute updates, can be found on the Lothian Buses website.
