Edinburgh's old City Chambers now luxury apartments with Bon Vivant restaurant

Edinburgh’s old City Chambers have been transformed into luxury apartments with a Bon Vivant bar and restaurant.

The new extension to the 18th century premises on the Royal Mile is nearing completion, and will feature the ground floor restaurant with 25 new apartments, a brand-new reception area and a lounge available for guest use.

The 140-seat ‘Luckenbooths,’ restaurant will open in August and will be managed by the Bon Vivant group.

Bon Vivant currently operate another five sites in Edinburgh and are currently advertising for staff to join the new team at Luckenbooths.

The hospitality group Cheval Collection own the old city chambers building and the new extension means they now have 75 apartments on the site at 329 High Street.

The new fully managed serviced apartments will include luxury, deluxe and loft one bedroom and open plan studio apartments, and offer unique views onto the Royal Mile and the cathedral or northwards towards Princes Street Gardens.

Cheval Old Town Chambers offer a range of apartments to suit every requirement, from open plan, one, two and three bedroom apartments all the way to a one-of-a-kind two-bedroom townhouse and two penthouses with spectacular views.

John Phillipson, Chief Operating Officer of Cheval Collection, said: “We are thrilled to announce this additional extension as part of our longer-term vision to grow our offering in the UK.

"Cheval Old Town Chambers can now be directly accessed from the Royal Mile and will benefit from a more prominent position.

"We hope to appeal to domestic and international guests looking for fully serviced apartments as an alternative to traditional hotel accommodation.”

The new Bon Vivant ground floor restaurant and bar will be named after ancient picturesque tenements in Edinburgh, called the Luckenbooths, that stood on High Street from the 15th to 19th centuries.
