Edinburgh's Murrayfield Ice Rink delays re-opening skating marathon event

The highly anticipated ‘Break The Ice’ event that was organised to celebrate the reopening of Murrayfield Ice Rink has unfortunately been delayed.

Murrayfield Ice Arena have apologised for any inconvenience but have said that technical and supply issues that were out of their control are behind the decision. Those with tickets for the original event, that was set to take place on Friday October 14, will be able to use them for the new date on Friday October 28.

‘Break The Ice’ is a 12 hour - 10:00am-10:00pm - all day skating celebration. Tickets cost just £10 and those in attendance are able to take in the rink throughout the day.

Organisers have said that anyone who is now unable to make the new event will be able to request a refund. They added that this would also be true for anyone who had purchased tickets for Edinburgh Capitals games.

The Murrayfield Ice Arena shared on their Facebook page: “Murrayfield Ice Arena regret to announce, due to unforeseen technical and supply issues, the opening of the Arena will be unfortunately delayed. We fully expect to be open to the public from Friday 28th October 2022.

“The BREAK THE ICE public skate will now take place on this date and all tickets that have been purchased, will remain valid for this event.

“If you are now unable to attend on this date please contact us by email to receive a refund - office@murrayfieldicearena.co.uk. Anyone who has purchased match tickets for the Edinburgh Capitals games against Whitley Warriors, Dundee Tigers and North Ayr, like the Break The Ice event, will remain valid or be refunded if the case may be once the new fixtures dates are released.

“Once again we apologise for any inconvenience, unfortunately this is out with our control. We will keep you up to date on the progress over the coming weeks.”
