Popular department store John Lewis has announced reopening dates for their Edinburgh store as lockdown restrictions begin to ease.
The high street retailer was forced to close, along with a raft of other businesses, when tougher Covid restrictions were announced by Nicola Sturgeon in Scotland on Boxing Day last year.
But the Scottish Government recently confirmed their route map out of lockdown, which gives the indicative date of 26 April as to when non-essential retailers should be given the go-ahead to open back up again.
The John Lewis store in Edinburgh is to re-open its doors on May 14, with Covid measures in place for customers to follow.
When the store opens back up again customers will have to abide by enhanced hygiene measures, social distancing and mask-wearing.
A representative from John Lewis told Edinburgh Live that customers will be issued more information on the protocol closer to the re-opening.
It's not the first time John Lewis has re-opened its doors after a Covid lockdown.
Edinburgh Live previously reported how the retail giant attracted long queues that snaked along Leith Street as people waited to go inside on July 13 for the first time since the initial lockdown began on March 23.
The last time John Lewis re-opened during the pandemic fitting rooms were closed, staff wore protective face shields, and there were protective screens at the checkouts.
Sunglasses were also cleaned each time someone tried them on. Lifts were open but limited to one household per lift at any given time.
