Edinburgh's hidden gem Garden Bistro unveil new street food menu for lockdown

One of Edinburgh's hidden gems, tucked away in stunning local gardens, has launched the perfect lockdown menu.

The Garden Bistro opened in 2020 as the country was plunged into the coronavirus crisis but has quickly adapted.

Nestled in Saughton Park, which reopened at the end of 2018 following a £7.3m revamp, in the walled gardens, they offer seasonal, sustainable and freshly picked food.

This a key selling point for the bistro, who ask: "What could be more local than from the back door of the kitchen eliminating food miles and minimizing food waste?"

While they were only able to serve diners for a short time, they have takeaway options and have now launched a new street food menu that looks absolutely delicious.

It features everything from vegan options, like plant-based nachos, to Mexican steak burgers and, the cold weather stable, macaroni cheese.

The bistro is the perfect pitstop for locals out on lockdown walks, with breakfast rolls, sweet treats and hot drinks also available.

Taking to social media, they said: "We’re delighted to introduce our newly enhanced 'lockdown menu' with new tasty 'Street Food' options to enjoy on the go!"

The Bistro to Go is open 9 am-5 pm, seven days a week.
