Edinburgh's first Taco Bell gets permission to open on Shandwick Place

Edinburgh is to get its first Taco Bell store after planning admission for a Shandwick Place Site was approved.

The American fast-food chain is big in the states, known for serving Mexican-inspired food such as tacos, quesadillas and nachos.

Located on 27-31 Shandwick Place next to VPZ, the new store will feature the famous purple Taco Bell graphic.

Drawings approved by the council shop a takeaway hatch at the front window that will allow locals or delivery drivers to pick up food and reduce contact during Covid restrictions.

As well as an option for home delivery, the fast-food chain will also have room for 64 people inside.

It will be the first Taco Bell to open up in Edinburgh and joins a small amount of other Taco Bells across the UK including a store on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street.

The Mexican-inspired eatery will serve chalupas, tacos, burritos and vegan options and there will aslo be alcoholic drinks such as frozen strawberry daiquiris and margaritas.
